Once of capital of a princely state, Mysore still carries on its placid
shoulders the aura and glamour of palaces, the grandeur of festival of times
gone by, but all of it with a quiet, unhurried dignity. Mysore is often called
the Jewel of Karnataka. It is the meeting place of routes to other tourist
centres nearby (Somnathpur, Belur, Halebid, Ooty, Coorg etc).The Wodeyar
family ruled Mysore since 14th century except for a short period of 40 years
when Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan were the rulers.

of the magnificent buildings in Mysore. The zoological garden of Mysore with a
fantastic selection of birds, beasts and reptiles is reputed to be one of the
best in India.

Brindavan Gardens Located at the KR Sagar Dam [Kannambadi], Brindavan Gardens
is one of the best gardens in South India. Spread over a acre, Brindavan
Gardens has since the 1960s provided the backdrop for many Indian films.
